Shaxi is a charming ancient historic village undergoing renovation and the provision of infrastructure for tourism. I think our visit in September 2019 was just in time before the number of tourists increases and the tranquility of the place is shattered.

I travelled already the 3rd time to ShaXi. I love that they are able to keep in the market-place area the real authenticity and character of this old village.
It is amazing to visit the weekly market where you can see many people from different minorities (Yi, Bai).
In the old town all is very clean and you are not bothered by so many shops etc. like in Dali.
