As any seasoned traveler quickly figures out, sunsets on the west coast of Menorca are nothing short of spectacular (surprise, surprise!). In Ciutadella itself, you’re already in a pretty sweet spot — especially around the harbor, where the atmosphere at dusk is simply magical. But there are plenty of other wonderful places worth exploring as the day winds down. Here’s our handpicked selection of the best spots to watch the sunset in Menorca!
As the great scientists that we are, we’ll quickly realize that when it comes to sunsets, we’re actually in pretty good shape on the west coast of Menorca (no kidding, right?!). So in Ciutadella, we’re already in a pretty good spot. Especially around the harbor, the atmosphere is simply magical at dusk! But there are other spots worth checking out to spend the end of the day and take in the show! Here’s our selection of the best places to watch the sunset in Menorca.

Cova d’en Xoroi
Cova d’en Xoroi is THE sunset spot everyone keeps raving about! It’s a bar/nightclub located on the southern coast of Menorca, inside a cave carved into the cliffside, but still facing the sea. We can’t tell you much more about it because we didn’t go there. This upscale bar charges an entrance fee of 13.9 euros during the day and 28 euros for sunset, with one drink included. From what we’ve heard, it’s hard to get a spot at the front of the terrace unless you arrive really early for sunset. Since we’re not big fans of glitzy parties, we passed on it!
But don’t worry, the sun doesn’t just set over trendy bars… There are also plenty of beautiful places with no cover charge, and we’ve listed them below :).
Cova d’en Xoroi is located in Cala en Porter, a small village on the southwest coast of Menorca, about 15-20 minutes by car from Fort Mahon. You can also reach this iconic cave by public transportation. Bus 31 connects Port Mahon and Cala en Porter in 25 minutes; get off at the Av. Central, 54 stop. From there, it’s just a short 15-minute walk to the bar.
Voramar Menorca
We used to recommend the Sa Posta De Sol bar in Cala Blanes, west of Ciutadella, but unfortunately it has closed… Right next door, Voramar Menorca is another bar and restaurant in a great location. Drink prices are reasonable considering the lovely view. Expect to pay 6.5 euros for a pint of beer and 5 euros for a large glass of wine.

From Ciutadella, bus 61 runs between the Josep Mascaró Pasarius stop in front of the municipal cemetery and Cala en Blanes. The bus departs every 30 to 60 minutes (see schedule). Get off the bus when you reach a hideous roundabout (Av. los Delfines) with bright blue plastic dolphins on it ;).
Pont d’en Gil bridge or Menorca’s natural arch
Another spot and what a spot! The Pont d’en Gil is a beautiful natural arch that happens to be perfectly aligned with the setting sun. However, it’s only accessible on foot, which is actually quite nice, let’s be honest. It’s a 15-minute walk from Cala Blanes or a 1.5-hour walk from Ciutadella.
There’s no bar on site, but nothing’s stopping you from bringing your own supplies ;). That’s exactly what we did: 2 beers, some chips, and a little picnic. For groceries, you’ll find plenty of small supermarkets in Cala en Blanes, right next to that awful roundabout with the dolphins. (Yes, yes, that thing really freaks me out!)

The easiest way to reach Pont d’en Gil from Ciutadella is to first take the bus (No. 61) to Cala en Blanes. From the bus stop (the one with the ugly dolphins), it’s a 15- to 20-minute walk.
If you know us, you know we have a bit of a thing for hiking. So, to catch that sunset, we set off on foot from Ciutadella in the late afternoon. In total, it takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to walk there, but trust us, you won’t regret it! Once you leave the little port of Ciutadella, you’ll follow small paths that run along the coast and wind through coves with turquoise water. There are definitely worse hikes out there!
As you’ll see on the map below, our route gets a bit off-the-beaten-path at times and doesn’t follow the official trails. But don’t worry, we won’t be taking you through the bushes! It’s simply that around the creeks, there are dozens of small paths that zigzag toward the water. So we just recommend that you don’t stick to the main path and always try to head toward the water.
Here’s a little map with the route and, most importantly, with the scenic cove detours you absolutely shouldn’t miss!

Mirador Sa Falconera
A little further north than Pont d’en Gil, Mirador Sa Falconera also looks like a great spot! It takes about 20 minutes to get there from the natural arch, following the coast along the Camí de Cavalls trail. There are no roads leading there, so hikers take note! Don’t forget to bring a flashlight for the return trip ;).
Punta Nati lighthouse
Another spot we absolutely loved for sunset viewing is the Punta Nati lighthouse. Perched on the island’s northwestern tip, this lighthouse is simply stunning! In the evening, the sun sets behind it, casting beautiful colors over the sea and the rocks.

The only downside to this spot is that it’s hard to reach by public transportation. Of course, you can walk there, but the return journey at night is quite long. Well, in our opinion, it’s definitely possible to hitchhike back to Ciutadella. There are bound to be a few other people with you, and there’s only one road leading out of the area. In short, if you’ve rented a car, this spot is an absolute must!
Note: No bar here either. So if you want to have a drink at sunset, be sure to bring your own ;).
If you’re a lighthouse lover, you can also watch the sunset from the Cap d’Artrutx Lighthouse (the perfect way to end your hike along the south coast to Cala Galdana) and the Cavalleria Lighthouse, at the northernmost point of Menorca.

Mirador Cim del Toro
The last stop on our list, Mirador Cim del Toro viewpoint promises a breathtaking 360° view of the island of Menorca! At 362 meters, Monte Toro is Menorca’s highest point, and it offers a stunning panorama even during the day. But as the sun begins to set, the real show begins.
You can drive up (the summit car park is just 9 minutes from the village of Es Mercadal) or hike up if you’re feeling adventurous (a 1-hour hike covering 3 km with an elevation gain of nearly 300 m!). Tip: arrive early, as it’s a popular spot ;).
