Heymondo may not be the most well-known name in the travel insurance world, but don’t let that fool you. Already hugely popular in Spain, this company is steadily making its mark internationally. Its biggest draw? Competitive pricing for travelers based outside the EU. But does it actually deliver? We’ve dug into the details to give you our honest review of Heymondo, walking you through both the strengths and the weaknesses of their plans so that you can head off on your next adventure with confidence!

Is Heymondo right for you?
✅ Heymondo is a great fit if you:
- ✈️ Travel abroad multiple times a year (each trip under 3 months), whether you’re a casual traveler or a digital nomad;
- 🎒 Are going on a long trip or round-the-world journey and live outside the EU;
- 🏖️ Are planning a holiday of less than 3 months and are under 75 years old.
❌ Heymondo may not be what you need if you:
- Are planning a Working Holiday Visa (WHV) trip: they don’t offer a dedicated plan for working holiday visa holders;
- Are over 75: unfortunately, Heymondo doesn’t offer any suitable plans for this age group.

Who is Heymondo?
Heymondo is a Spanish insurance broker, officially known as Smart Insurance Correduria de Seguros S.L., and better known under the name “Mondo” in Spain. Founded in 2017, they’ve built a solid reputation on the Iberian Peninsula before expanding to the United States, Italy, and more recently France. Their product range covers short-trip insurance, long-stay coverage, annual multi-trip plans, cancellation insurance, and more.
One interesting thing about Heymondo is that they work with different insurance partners depending on the country: IMA Assurance in France, and AXA for their English-language offering. This means the plans vary depending on whether you sign up.
One thing we genuinely love about Heymondo is their mobile app. It lets you call emergency assistance for free 24/7, manage claims, upload supporting documents for reimbursements, and view your active policies. Plenty of insurers have apps these days, but very few offer such a seamless experience and let you actually handle a claim end-to-end right from your phone.

What plans does Heymondo offer?
Heymondo covers short trips, long stays of 3+ months (including RTW trips), and all your trips over the course of a year with an annual plan.

Short-stay plans (under 3 months)
For holidays or trips under 3 months, Heymondo offers three tiers: Top, Premium, and Medical. If you’re a U.S. resident, prices and warranties vary.

⭐️ Our review of Heymondo’s short-stay plans for US residents
The Medical plan is really the bare minimum when it comes to vacation coverage. That said, the coverage limits remain insufficient, and private liability coverage is unfortunately absent. Honestly, you deserve better and you can find it elsewhere for less! ACS’s Globe Traveller is more affordable and offers significantly better coverage, with higher limits across the board, whether for health, assistance, or civil liability. If you’re over 75, we’d warmly encourage you to take a look at IMG; their pricing varies depending on the medical coverage limit and deductible amount you’re comfortable with.

⭐️ Our review of Heymondo’s short-stay plans
As its name suggests, the Medical plan covers you exclusively for health-related issues. If that’s the kind of coverage you’re looking for, it’s still worth considering. Across all three policies, the medical expense limits are impressively high; it’s quite rare to see them exceed €500,000–1 million for short trips! The one downside worth mentioning is the relatively low limit for private liability coverage, which is a bit of a shame. Overall, Heymondo offers solid guarantees, but if you’d prefer a slightly lower health coverage ceiling in exchange for stronger civil liability protection, we’d gently point you toward Yupwego instead!
Long-stay & round-the-world plans (3+ months)
For extended trips lasting over 3 months, Heymondo offers one option: the Long Stay plan.
Note: for US citizens, there’s no plan for RTW trip. So we’d encourage you to consider ACS or AVI.

⭐️ Our review of Heymondo’s long-stay plan
For a round-the-world trip, Heymondo offers a solid option! Honestly, the pricing feels fair given what’s included. One thing we really love is the ability to renew at your own convenience through the app! It’s perfect when you’re heading off without a set return date. Once again, civil liability coverage is where things fall a little short. But you really can’t go wrong with the Long Stay plan. For travelers over 50, we’d warmly point you toward ACS’s Globe Traveller or Chapka’s Cap Aventure.
Annual multi-trip plan
Heymondo is one of the few insurers to offer an annual multi-trip plan, covering any number of trips throughout the year as long as each one is under 60 days (36 days for US citizens). Perfect for frequent travelers and digital nomads!

⭐️ Our review of Heymondo’s annual plan
If you travel abroad often, whether as a part-time digital nomad or just someone who takes a few trips a year, Heymondo’s annual multi-trip plan is an excellent choice. We love that cancellation insurance is included, and the baggage and electronics coverage is genuinely solid. On top of that, the pricing is highly competitive at any age.
Our review of Heymondo complements our dedicated guides. In it, we compare the best travel health insurance plans on the market to help you make the right choice.

Important exclusions to know about
As with any insurance, always read the fine print before signing up. Here are the key situations Heymondo won’t cover:
- Pre-existing medical conditions: any illness or condition you had before your trip
- Glasses or contact lenses
- Pregnancy
- Extreme sports such as mountaineering, bungee jumping, and skydiving
- Damage to rental vehicles: for this, you’ll need additional car rental insurance, which is often included with your credit card or available through the rental agency
What do travelers say?
Online reviews for Heymondo are very strong: 4.6/5 on Trustpilot, which is genuinely impressive for an insurance company, since it’s usually dissatisfied customers who leave reviews. That’s a good sign! Our overall impression is that Heymondo offers well-rounded coverage, although we do find the coverage limit for liability a bit disappointing…
For long-term travelers based outside the EU, their Long Stay plan is, in our view, one of the best on the market.
Heymondo: FAQ
Can I sign up after my trip has already started?
Yes! You can sign up for any policy with Heymondo after you leave. Coverage will take effect after a 72-hour waiting period.
Is there a promotional code?
No promo code, but by clicking the links in this article, you’ll automatically get a 5% discount ;).
Does Heymondo include cancellation insurance?
Only the multi-trip policy and the short-stay policy include trip cancellation insurance. If you’re going on a round-the-world trip, be sure to read the terms and conditions of your policy carefully. Trip cancellation insurance is included, but it has limitations…
Heymondo or SafetyWing?
SafetyWing tends to be pricier than Heymondo while offering less coverage. Its highlights are a permanent disability benefit, solid baggage coverage, and refunds for unused months.
Conclusion: Is Heymondo the best travel insurance?
For short trips (under 3 months)
Heymondo is a solid option for short trips, but for most travelers under 60, competitors like Yupwego offer more complete coverage (telemedicine, better liability limits, search & rescue, permanent disability benefit) at comparable prices. That said, if you’re over 60, Heymondo tends to offer better rates depending on your destination.
For long trips or round-the-world travel
The Long Stay plan is one of the best options on the market! The coverage is excellent for a very reasonable price. If you’re looking for a higher civil liability limit, True Traveller is a fantastic alternative (though do keep in mind it’s only available to EU residents).
For digital nomads
If you travel frequently but not full-time, Heymondo’s annual plan is tailor-made for you: great coverage at a very fair price. Full-time nomads, however, will be better served by Heymondo’s Long Stay and True Traveller’s Traveller.
We hope this review helps you find the best travel insurance for your adventures! Which insurance plan will you choose?
