Custom markers
With the novo-map plugin, you can easily use your own images as markers on the map. For example on our travel blog we use our own custom markers to geolocate our posts. When you click on a marker, a nice infobox will appear with a title link to the post, a description and an image. The content of the infoboxes is defined on your posts edit page.
Custom map style
Using for example the really cool website Snazzy maps, you can generate any kind of map style that will fit your website theme. Just go on snazzy maps, choose a style that you like or generate your own style, copy the generated code and paste it in the settings of your novo-map.
Marker Clustering
If you have many markers on a map, you might want to activate the clustering to avoid having 200 pins overlapping each other. You can choose the markers you want to use for the pin clustering, how the markers are clustered together, size and color of the number…
Filter Markers by categories or Tags
You can easily choose to display only the marker of a specific category or tag by specifying it in the map settings or directly in the shortcode. Here is an example with the same map as the previous one displaying only the markers of our Budget category

You can also choose to add some map controllers like a zoom button or a map type menu anywhere on your maps.
These are the main features of the novo-map wodpress plugin. Novo-map aims to provide an easy solution for people who wants to geolocate and display their posts or pages on nice custom google maps. We strongly believe that the free version of a plugin on wordpress.org should provide a solid solution to a given problem and we hope novo-map is able to do that.

If you’ve checked one of our category pages and you are wondering why our infoboxes look different. It’s because we use an upgraded version of Novo-Map with custom infobox styles. As I just said, the main features of the plugin will always remain free but there will be a paid version of novo-map in a near future. Even if we strongly believe that there should be more good free plugins in the wordpress plugin directory, we think it’s fair to offer specific and more custom (and time demanding) features in a paid version.
